Little Hands Lab
Get those little hands ready to build, create, cut, pinch, squeeze, draw, and write!
This hands-on class is designed for kindergarten and first-grade students to strengthen the foundational fine motor skills needed for successful handwriting and everyday classroom tasks. Through playful, engaging activities, students will work on hand strength, finger dexterity, bilateral coordination, pencil grasp, scissor skills, visual-motor skills, and handwriting—without it feeling like handwriting practice!
Each class will include a variety of activities such as Play-Doh, LEGO/building challenges, beads and lacing, cutting and crafts, games, drawing, sensory activities, and other fine motor challenges. Students will also practice developmentally appropriate handwriting skills, including letter formation, pencil control, spacing, and writing within lines.
The first half of class time will be spent building fine motor strength and coordination. The second half will focus on functional letter formation. Activities will be presented through games, challenges, crafts, and creative projects to help children build confidence while developing stronger, more coordinated hands.

Meet the Teacher

Krystal Nelson
Hi! I’m Krystal Nelson. I love using my occupational therapy experience to help students build confidence, independence, and the skills they need to be successful at school. I believe every child is unique and enjoy finding fun, creative ways to help them learn and grow.
Outside of work, I’m a wife and mom to two girls. Our family stays busy with dance, taekwondo, church, volunteering, and spending time together. One of my favorite parts of OT is building relationships with students and celebrating their accomplishments, big and small!
