FAQ
-
Is RISE Academy accredited? No, we are not accredited. We are a homeschool hybrid, so we share 50% of the work with parents. We do follow state guidelines and always align our instruction accordingly.
-
Is RISE Academy affiliated with a church or denomination? We are not affiliated with a church or denomination, however we do have a statement of faith that you read in the About Us section.
-
What am I expected to do as a parent? It is your responsibility to register your homeschool with the State of Kansas. Your student will have work to do on their at-home days. Your job is to support the student in completing the work we have provided at home. Help them find the resources they may need to complete the assignments. Discuss the assignments with them to ensure they are grasping the content. Grade and assess student work as you feel needed. Communicate with teachers about any questions, concerns, or what your child may need more help understanding.
-
Is RISE Academy a co-op?No, RISE is not a co-op. Typically co-ops require parents to stay on-campus and participate in some manner of all students’ education.
-
Will my child eat lunch at RISE academy? No, lunch will not be provided nor will there be a scheduled “lunch time”. Families are free to coordinate a picnic lunch outside after school hours, but the RISE Academy building will be locked/off limits and no faculty will be “on duty”.
-
Will my student be placed in their grade level by age, ability, or a combination?Students must be at least 4 years old by Labor Day to be enrolled in RISE Pre-School. For grades K-2, age and ability will both be considered when it comes to grade placement. RISE puts on annual assessments in the summer months to assess incoming students’ ability level to ensure they are placed at the grade level where they will have the most potential for growth and success! We pride ourselves on doing what is best for students and we understand that some students may need to be accelerated or remediated in a particular content area.
-
What is the school week schedule?Tuesdays and Thursdays your child will receive instruction at RISE Academy from 9-12:30. Drop off begins at 8:45 and pick-up is expected to be prompt - no later than 12:35. Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays are homeschool days. Many families may choose to designate their Fridays as review/field trip/extra curricular exploration days. Curriculum pacing will be set and communicated by your student’s RISE teacher.
