1st Grade
Cathy Hollis
I am truly blessed. God has given me the gift of five amazing, beautiful daughters, five incredible sons in laws and ten angelic grandchildren. God needed an angel, so he recently took our Titus John Hunter to heaven. God has a plan for our dear sweet
grandson, he is now in heaven with other infants and children celebrating the love, grace, and mercy God provides.
As I reflect on our purpose on earth, I know that God had a plan for me. Children are my people, I love their sweet innocence, zest for life, and true compassion for others. Mathew 19:14; “But Jesus said, Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” As we reflect on these words, we realize that “Jesus welcomes the attitudes toward children and highlights the importance of childlike humility and trust in entering the kingdom of God.” (Mathew 19:14)
I love the sweet innocence of children; they are humbling to the adult heart. I am a retired teacher of 33 years. I have a passion for children and education. I feel God has blessed me with a passion for the love of educating and working with children. I want to
continue to serve the Lord and extend my passion for his graces to help educate our youth.
I was a military child, and a military wife. My husband served in the Army for 31 years. We moved to Fort Riley in 2002. I fell in love with the Kansas spirit and the school district in which my five daughters graduated. We purchased an older home in Junction City in 2006 and have called it home since.
I graduated in 1984 from Texas Christian University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Kinesiology. I received a masters in Curriculum Instruction and English Language Learners from Kansas State in 2011. As a military spouse, we moved frequently. I have taught grades K,1, 3, 4, 5 and middle school. The diverse cultures of the students and families I interacted with blessed me with the ability to establish relationships with many diverse cultures. God is good!
I look forward to building relationships with the children, faculty, staff, and families at Rise Academy. I am excited to teach our sweet children academically and spiritually. Please know that my entire heart will embellish your child. I will promote the very best academic and socio-emotional class room environment for the success of each students needs.
