Survival Skills

Many essential survival skills have faded from modern culture, yet they remain critical in times of need. In this class, students will explore the practical skills required to navigate a wide range of real-world challenges. Instruction includes fire building and maintenance, outdoor cooking, knot tying and basic fishing techniques, map reading and compass use, foundational first aid and CPR, shelter construction, water collection and filtration, and situational awareness with critical thinking. This is a hands-on, confidence-  building experience  designed to be both safe and engaging, equipping students with practical knowledge they can rely on when it matters most.

Meet the Teacher

Levi Lear, PA-C

Levi holds a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Kansas State University and a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Wichita State University. He brings over 11 years of experience in emergency medicine, inpatient hospital care, and clinical practice. Outside of medicine, Levi enjoys spending time with his greatest joy—his wife, Bethany, and their four children: Landry, Kendrick, Hattie, and Emmylou. We love to spend time outdoors hunting, fishing, camping and hiking. “My faith has inspired a deep sense of awe and appreciation for the complexity of God’s creation. I’m excited for the opportunity to share that passion with your student and to watch
their curiosity and fascination grow.”
