Created to Create
Created to Create is a creative space where students explore art through the lens of faith, discovering how God's fingerprints are woven into every element of design. Across three 8-week sessions, students will begin by studying the seven elements of art: line, shape, color, value, texture, form, and space, alongside artists throughout history who mastered each one. Students practice every element hands-on before bringing their new skills to their final piece. Students will begin learning to thoughtfully observe and discuss works of art through mini art shows in class and critiquing the artwork we explore. Building on that foundation, subsequent sessions explore the principles of design: balance, contrast, emphasis, movement, proportion, rhythm, and unity and then move into a range of media including drawing, painting, mixed media, and sculpture. Portfolios are sent home at the end of each 8-week session. Art Studio is open to students at any point in the year there is no need to start at the beginning. Classes are tailored for three age groups: Kindergarten–1st, 2nd–3rd, and 4th–6th grade.
9:00-10:00AM: 2nd & 3rd Grade
10:15-11:15 AM: 4th, 5th, & 6th Grade
11:30-12:30 PM: Kindergarten & 1st Grade

Meet the Teacher
Linsey Otte
I’m an artist and homeschool educator with a background in photography and a passion for creative learning. I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Art with an emphasis in photography from the University of Iowa and have experience in visual arts, design, and hands-on creative work. After moving frequently throughout my life, my family and I landed in Kansas in 2024, where we’ve loved becoming part of the community. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my family and exploring my hobbies including DIY home improvement, woodworking, sewing, crocheting, painting & photography to name a few. I enjoy incorporating creativity into everyday learning and value curiosity, exploration, and encouraging students to express themselves through art.
